As news of Osama Bin Laden s death began to spread across campus the students began to gather on Beaver Avenue Crowds eventually grew large enough that the sidewalks could no longer contain the celebration forcing State College authorities to close Beaver Avenue The celebrations lasted well into the night as patriotic chants could still be heard echoing through Happy Valley at 2 a m Early attendance estimates have the numbers at around 10 000 students packed into one block A few notable sights were Captain America crowd surfing a large fire in the middle of the street a guy doing pull-ups from a lamppost fireworks textbooks that were shredded into confetti and more American flags than you will see in a lifetime
